Jack Donovan
Jack Donovan moonlights as an advocate for the resurgence of patriarchal, paleo-masculine values among the Men of the West. He is a contributor to The Spearhead, as well as the author of Androphilia and co-author of Blood Brotherhood and Other Rites of Male Alliance. Mr. Donovan lives and works in Portland, Oregon.
Just say "No"
I mentioned in a recent podcasted conversation with Richard Spencer that the way forward for men was for them to start saying "no." A "hard, paternal no" was the exact quote, I think.
Welmer from The Spearhead riffed on a similar theme today with "The Exaggerated Danger of Speaking Your Mind."
I know a guy who did time for felony weapon-dealing and then won a Marxist, Latina social worker to his side in a custody dispute. The kicker? This guy had a swastika tattooed on his back in prison and was a known gangster. He won custody, too! And then he proceeded to knock up another girl and father four more babies in addition to the two he already had. Despite heavy drinking and cheating, he's still got a devoted wife - and a successful business.I've also known guys who were decent, honest, hardworking and careful men who got hauled into DV diversion programs despite never having laid a hand on anyone - man or woman - in their entire lives. Men who innocently compliment coworkers get dragged before HR on sexual harassment complaints. The men who follow the rules consistently get nailed. They are hated for being obedient, polite and compliant.
The men who let women push them around and dictate the rules of engagement aren't necessarily being rewarded for it. In fact, women may terrorize them like Helots -- to remind them of their servile position and keep them in line.
A real sea change in the state of contemporary gender relations will occur when even the nice guys, the average Joes, start standing up for themselves and making their own terms.
Whitewashed?
I already know the "official answer" that sociology students will be taught after the results of the 2010 Census have been counted:
The reason? Because the 2010 Census form is designed to produce that answer, which I believe to be false. If you haven't looked at your census form yet, here's a scan of questions 5 and 6.

The White Man's Recession
A noteworthy opinion piece in the LA Times...
Revenge of the white men
Victims of the 'he-cession' are turning against the Democrats, and that could sway the November elections.
By David Paul Kuhn
I thought we were calling it the "man-cession," not the "he-cession." But the numbers are fairly stark. This is a white man's recession, with other men also taking a substantial hit.
This recession remains disproportionately a "he-cession." Men account for at least 7 of 10 workers who lost jobs, according to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics data. Blue-collar men have suffered 57% of the job losses. And blue-collar white men, who make up only 11% of the workforce, constitute 36% of those who have lost jobs. In total, nearly half of the recession's casualties are white men, having held 46% of all jobs lost.
Acéphale
The Headless Monster of "Modern" Masculinity
In 1936, while staying at the coastal village of Tossa de Mar with artist André Masson, George Bataille envisioned the Acéphale, pictured above. The Acéphale was a headless monster who symbolized man's rejection of hierarchy and God and his escape from the boredom of civilization into a life lost to the pursuit of fascination. Bataille was determined to bring about his leaderless, communal, ecstatic age of chaos through a sacred conjuration, and to this end he formed a secret society. As the tale goes, members of the Acéphale Society performed clandestine rituals -- one notably celebrating the decapitation of Louis XVI. However, the true conjuration sacrée required a human sacrifice. To bring about a new age of the crowd, of survivors held "in the grip of a corpse," someone needed to become the Acéphale. Someone needed to lose his head.
It never happened.
But it may as well have, because modern man has truly lost his head.
The "Big Tent" Tradition
That's the title of the conceptual artwork pictured above.
A dead shark suspended in formaldehyde and coupled with a tricky title may seem like the height of art world pretense. But I first came across it when I was fairly young, and the title stuck with me. It's become a visual symbol for me of ideas that we all talk about but which the human mind cannot truly comprehend. Death. Eternity. The expanse of the universe. I know that one day I will cease to exist, but life is all I know. I cannot truly comprehend not being here.
Another thing I cannot comprehend is faith in God.
The Homosexual Question
Why Same-Sex Marriage Is Still Wrong, But Repealing DADT Is Right
From the right, there's not much to like about gay men.
The highly vocal and visible queer fringe publicly celebrates extreme promiscuity, sadomasochism, transvestitism, transsexuality and flamboyant effeminacy. It is so unabashedly Marxist that even Marx himself would blush. It is anti-military, anti-patriarchal, anti-nuclear family, anti-Christian, aspirationally vegan and virulently anti-Western. Queer theorists—the pink-haired, punk rock stepchildren of feminists—blame straight white men for all of the wickedness the world has to offer.
Gay moderates, much like moderate Muslims, offer their tacit approval to queer extremists because they refuse to openly condemn extreme behavior for fear that they'll look like traitors, Uncle Toms or hypocrites. Gay conservatives of any variety are scarce as leprechauns, and not nearly so beloved by their lucky fellows when spotted. The average gay man is politically progressive and politically correct, he's a multiculturalist, and like his fellow progressives he's particularly enamored with European styles of government, however failed and fundamentally flawed.
Cowboy Values
A pal of mine took a cross-country road trip from New Jersey to Oregon with his father last summer and stopped in town of Sheridan, Wyoming. Ever since, he's been telling me how much I'd love it, and how we ought to plan a trip there. "People there actually ride their horses to work."
I was pleased to read a few days ago that the State of Wyoming is making a move to enshrine "Cowboy Ethics" in state law. Sure, it's only a symbolic gesture. But given the kinds of symbolic and very real gestures usually made by state governments, it's a step in the right direction. The lawmakers were inspired in part by the work of author and lecturer James P. Owen, a Wall-Street refugee who rediscovered a more wholesome American ideal and became one of its evangelists. He wrote Cowboy Ethics, and more recently, Cowboy Values-Recapturing What America Once Stood For. Being slightly more curious than the politically correct editor of the Casper Star-Tribune, who wrote a whole whinging editorial about the move being "ethnocentric," I actually ordered a copy of Cowboy Values and gave it a read.
The War on Oblivion
A Discussion about the Future of Fatherhood in the West
The birth rate of whites—native Europeans—in Europe is well below replacement level. As many writers including Pat Buchanan and Mark Steyn have noted, the aging, bloated European welfare states will increasingly be sustained by immigrants who are openly hostile to European culture. In America, our immigrants are much less likely to blow themselves to smithereens. But Hispanics are having 59% larger families than whites on average. Whites have long been headed for minority status, and Latinos are already flexing their demographic muscle in government and entertainment. The new majorities have their own cultures, and they will have their own interests to promote. The stewardship of Western Civilization isn't their responsibility or their problem.
Somewhere in the litany of "hate facts" about the decline of white birth rates is a lesson about what happens to people-any group of humans, really-when they abandon family life and choose instead to promote consumerism, self-indulgence, non-reproductive sexuality and female careerism.
